Garden Heaters and Chimeneas

We all spend time in our gardens, but in most climates a garden can only be enjoyed during the summer. Places like England do not have the climates of Spain or Italy, so a garden heater can be a useful attribute.

Garden Heaters and Chimeneas are a way of removing this restriction and making the garden somewhere to enjoy throughout the year.

Any kind of wood, gas or electric heaters can be stood on a patio, or other heat resistant and non combustible surface, and used during entertaining or socialising.

Patio heaters warm the area around them and make a garden a social area, even on a cooler day.

Types of Garden Heater

Garden heaters come in different styles and fuel types. These include the Mexican wood burning chimeneas and the stainless steel gas heaters. There are also halogen heaters that run from mains electricity.

The Mexican Chimenea

The Chimenea is a traditional clay stove that burns wood and has its origin in Mexic and possibly Spain. These rustic ovens combine a stove and a chimney and can be tall, heavy and difficult to move around. Originally, they were bread ovens, but now they are sold as decorative looking garden heaters and barbeques.

Chimeneas are sold online and in garden centres or DIY stores and com in different designs and sizes.

Gas Garden Heaters

These garden heaters have a base, trunk and heat emitter. The base encloses the gas cylinder the emitter is topped with a reflective cap that radiates the heat around the heater and covering a diameter of 6 metres to 7 metres.

These heaters have a stainless steel finish and the gas bottle is hidden in the base section. When one cylinder is emptied, another is used to replace it.

Halogen Garden heaters

For anyone not wanting the hassle of burning coal or wood, or wishing to avoid gas, mains powered electric halogen garden heaters can be a viable alternative.

The halogen garden heater produces heat without a flame, but it does need a mains power supply to plug into.
