Maps of Galicia
Large scale maps can be obtained showing -
- The Galician region as a whole
- Each of the four provinces (i.e. La Coruna, Pontevedra, Lugo and ourense)
- All of the major cities and most of the towns.
The Smaller scale maps will show street details, local ordinance information, monuments, tourist information points and other useful features.
Where to get maps of Galicia
The best place to get hold of these maps is in Galicia itself. An extensive range of useful maps and guides will be offered at most of the region's tourist offices and nearly all are free, or purchased at a minimal charge. These maps tend to place an emphasis on visitor attractions and monuments.
Maps and guide books will be on sale at the regional airports and most car rental companies will provide (for free) a good road map of the province from which you rent your vehicle.
Links to maps of Galicia and sites that sell them
If you want to buy or see a map of Galicia (or the area that you plan to visit) in advance, you can use the sites below.
- www.map-of-spain.co.uk This site has a good selection of royalty free maps including Galicia that you can look at from this page.
www.spanish-living.com A great web page for maps of Galicia's four provinces (the maps can be clicked on to enlarge). These maps give you an idea of how Galicia's towns and cities are positioned in relation to each other.
www.mapsofworld.com This page has links to an excellent road map and a good railway network map for the whole of Galicia. Both found from this page, but with an annoying pop-up you may need to close.
www.mapsworldwide.com You can buy, on-line, maps of Galicia and the provinces through this site for around five pounds (nine dollars) plus delivery.
www.maptown.com A USA site selling Galician maps.
www.trektools.com As far as I can tell this site sells the same Michelin map as the one above, but at a cheaper price.
Other sources for map purchase include Amazon.com and the airports and tourist offices in Galicia.
